Let’s be honest though, event management isn’t always a walk in the park. It requires planning, money and most importantly, interest from the community. Organising an event whilst managing the day to day of a pharmacy also presents as a challenge! However, event management can be incredibly rewarding for pharmacies, for their bottom line, building relationships and most importantly, for patients.
Today we want to share some tips in relation to events and pharmacy. These ideas will help you plan amazing events for your patients, just in time for the VIP Christmas Night!
Host an event that aligns with your community
The purpose of hosting an event within your pharmacy is to educate and inspire your patients. Therefore, it’s important to ensure you investigate potential events that will interest your patients. Attending events is an investment of time so, people will only commit if it adds value to their lives. Would you attend a heavy metal concert when your favourite singer is Taylor Swift? Then why would you expect a new mum to attend your sleep apnoea event?
Remember the more relatable your event is to your local community, the higher the engagement. Like any marketing strategy, events must be tailored around what your patients want from you as a pharmacy.
Get your team involved
Once you have ideas for the type of events that would engage your patients, it’s time to align your team. The success of an event will be driven by your team as they will most likely be the ones who will implement and promote the event. The cleverest strategy to keep them engaged is by involving them in the event planning process. Some ideas to achieve this is through asking for feedback, allowing them to drive the event or let them determine the format of the event. Not only involving your team helps the event’s success but also assists with building a strong team culture. By having a team that feels appreciated and heard will boost team morale.
Additionally, your team would have strong relationships with patients that visit your pharmacy. They have such a wealth of understanding when it comes to your patient base and what they want/need. Therefore, having your team involved with the event management process will be invaluable.
